This recipe for organic breakfast sausage is my favorite! I literally eat these every day as I do a high protein breakfast. I love making homemade breakfast sausage because it's so much better than store bought! While traditional store bought breakfast sausage is usually pork, it can also have additives or nitrates or natural flavors, which I try to avoid.

This recipe for organic breakfast sausage is a healthy option for those who want to eat meat every day (like me!). I use organic ground turkey, which is a lean meat with high protein. And, I add in traditional homemade breakfast sausage spices like fennel seed and marjoram. I take this organic breakfast sausage recipe up a notch with the addition of everything bagel seasoning!

  • Ground Turkey: I use Organic Prairie Ground Turkey, which is lean and loaded with protein.
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning: My secret ingredient is organic everything bagel seasoning. This has healthy seeds like sesame, poppy seeds, and black sesame seeds. It also has garlic and onion.
  • Salt and Pepper: Needed for flavor.
  • Fennel Seed: Organic fennel seed is a crucial spice for flavor in this homemade breakfast sausage recipe. Fennel also is anti inflammatory and can aid in digestion.
  • Marjoram: I use organic marjoram, which gives this organic breakfast sausage more flavor. Marjoram is also full of antioxidants and its anti inflammatory.
  • EVOO: Depending on what kind of pan you're using, you may or may not need oil. If you're using oil, I recommend organic extra virgin olive oil as its a healthy fat that is anti inflammatory.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Start by mixing the ground turkey together with the spices. You can do this with your hands, or you can also use a spatula, but I prefer to just get in there with my hands as it’s much easier.

Step 2

Divide the meat into 6 small balls, weighing about 75 grams each. Form them into disks and place on a plate.

Step 3

In a large skillet over medium/high heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to coat the pan (if using). Add in the sausage patties and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes per side until they are golden brown.

Step 4

You can store these in an airtight container in the fridge if you don’t eat them all. They can be warmed up in the microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, or even in a skillet.
