This Dog Friendly Whipped Cream is a delicious and safe treat for dogs! While some dogs can have dairy, it can still be inflammatory for dogs (just like for us). So, making a dairy free whipped cream is the best option for your pup! Plus, you can eat this too!
I love this dairy free whipped cream recipe because it’s thick, creamy, and has a slight coconut flavor because I use coconut cream. And I love coconut, so I could eat this all day long!
If you want to make your dog a homemade pup cup, then this is the recipe to make it with! This recipe is perfect for making your dog a healthy pup cup that you can feel good about them eating! You can also enjoy this dairy free whipped cream with strawberries and fruits for a sweet treat too!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Healthy Pup Cup: If you want to make your dog a homemade pup cup, then this dairy free whipped cream is the way to go!
2 Ingredients: This Dog Friendly Whipped Cream only has two ingredients: coconut cream and raw honey.
Dog Safe: Coconut cream is a much better option for dogs than heavy whipping cream! Dairy can be inflammatory for dogs (just like for humans) and sugar and flavors that come in traditional whipped cream can harm your dog’s health over time. I also use raw honey which is a great natural sweetener for dogs, and it makes this taste good so you can enjoy it too!
Ingredients & Health Benefits
- Coconut Cream: I use Let’s Do Organic Coconut Cream here; I find this brand whips up best for whipped cream. Coconut cream can boost your dog’s immune system and improve their skin and coat. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can also help with hot spots, dry and itchy skin, and it can even freshen their breath!
- Raw Honey: I use organic raw honey which is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and it’s loaded with antioxidants. It can also help with allergies, digestion, and has minerals like copper, magnesium, potassium and more!
Using these two simple organic ingredients will really create a healthy pup cup for your dog! You can feel good about letting them have a treat frequently when you use this recipe.
Tools Needed
- Mixer: You can use a stand mixer or hand mixer here, either work!
- Piping Bag: If you’re making a homemade pup cup, you can use a piping bag to pipe it out. But, this is totally optional.
- Ateco Tip #846: I used Ateco tip #846 to pipe out the pup cup, but this is also totally optional!

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Chill the can of coconut cream in the fridge for at least 48 hours before beginning this recipe.
Step 2
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or using a hand mixer), scoop out the coconut cream fat on top of the can. Do not add the liquid in, save that coconut water in the fridge for using in smoothies! Add the honey into the mixer with the coconut.
Step 3
Whisk on low and then slowly increase speed until you are at full speed. Whisk until stiff peaks form, this will be pretty quick, much faster than traditional whipped cream.
Step 4
It’s ready to use! Make your dog a homemade pup cup or serve up in a dish with fruits for a delicious treat you both can share.
Baker’s Tips
- It really helps to chill the coconut cream in the fridge before beginning this recipe. I recommend chilling for at least 48 hours beforehand. I usually just keep a couple cans of these in the fridge all the time!
- I use raw honey as a sweetener, but if you don’t have honey you can use organic pure maple syrup in its place. It doesn’t have the health benefits that honey has for dogs, but it is safe for dogs in small amounts as a treat.
- If you have extra whipped cream, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Serving Ideas
- Make a homemade pup cup for your dog by adding some whipped cream into a cup. You can use a piping bag and tip or also skip this too! I topped this with these organic dog bone treats that John John loves.
- Serve in a small dish with dog friendly dipping fruits!
- Add a little dollop on top of your dogs food for a special treat or if they need some enticing to eat.
FAQ’s
If you don’t have honey, you can use maple syrup in its place. While it’s not as healthy as honey for dogs, it can be enjoyed in moderation as a treat.
Dog friendly fruits include fruits such as strawberries (just remove stems), blueberries, blackberries, apples, peaches, bananas, and more. But these fruits would all go delicious with this whipped cream!
Store extra whipped cream in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
