We made our Avocado Lettuce Wrap Burgers last week and I thought I needed to make a dog friendly burger recipe so John John could also enjoy burgers this summer! While a traditional burger with a bun is not ideal for dogs, this Dog Burger Bowl is a great way to let your dog enjoy a burger!

This is basically just homemade beef dog food that your pup will love! I use organic grassfed ground beef. This is the same beef that we buy for ourselves when we make burgers, making shopping simple!

I use my Dog Friendly Sweet Potato Fries for the carb in this recipe in place of a bun. I top this burger with spinach and orange pepper (because it’s the color of cheese!). Your dog is going to love this homemade dog food recipe! But, if you want to make this more of a regular meal, check out How to Cook Sweet Potatoes for Dogs for sweet potatoes that are plain, which is better for every day feeding.

  1. To make the burgers: Form the ground beef into 8 patties. You can make them larger if you have a larger dog, but I find it difficult to make them much smaller than 8. Even if you have a smaller dog, you can cut in half if need be.

If you are making this as homemade beef dog food, you can chop everything up and mix it together if you would like. You can also store beef, fries, and veggies separately as well. We do this, as I prefer to choose the amounts of each for John John's meals as I think it's easier to ensure he's getting the right amount of each (plus I eat the fries!).
