Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- 3 Ingredients: These homemade dog treats only have 3 organic ingredients: oat flour, peanut butter, and honey!
- Small Dog Treats: I love these Mini Peanut Butter Oat Dog Treats because they are small and you can make them as small as you like. This makes them perfect for John John and they also make a great training treat too!
- Organic: These peanut butter dog treats only have 3 organic ingredients, making them a great choice if you want to avoid unnecessary ingredients in processed dog treats. So many store bought small dog treats can have terrible ingredients, fillers, and more that your best friend doesn’t need.
- Crunchy Dog Treats: These small dog treats are crunchy, so if your dog likes crispy treats (like John John) they'll love these! If you want soft dog treats, check out our Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Cookies or Bakery Famous Soft Peanut Butter Dog Cookies.
- Gluten Free Dog Treats: These are naturally gluten free dog treats because we're using oat flour!
Ingredients

- Oat Flour: I love using organic oat flour for homemade dog treats, this is a dog safe flour.
- Peanut Butter: The base of these Mini Peanut Butter Oat Dog Treats is natural peanut butter, which dogs love! Be sure to use creamy peanut butter (not crunchy) as dogs can’t digest the full nut very well. Also, be sure to avoid peanut butters that contain added sugars, flavors, and especially xylitol as that is incredibly toxic to dogs and can be found in some peanut butters. Stick to organic peanut butter with only peanuts or one that uses peanuts and salt as a little salt is okay! We use the Costco Organic Peanut Butter, which just has peanuts and salt, this way we can all enjoy the same peanut butter.
- Honey: I use organic raw honey, which is antimicrobial and antibacterial. It also gives some natural sweetness to these homemade dog treats!

Baker’s Tips
- Be sure to use a dog safe peanut butter. Stick to creamy peanut butter that only has peanuts and salt as the ingredients, avoid everything else.
- Feel free to cut these dog treats into whatever size pieces you like. Cut them smaller if you have a very small dog. We will usually divide the dough into 12 portions (instead of 6) this makes them perfect one bite treats for John John who is only 20 pounds.
- You can also roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut out with cookie cutters. Or, you can even just slice into small cubes with a pizza cutter, which is what we do for John John all the time as this makes them even smaller!
- If you are making the treats smaller, just bake for a couple minutes less.
- If you're trying to sneak mushrooms into your dog's diet, check out our Mushroom Peanut Butter Dog Treats.
- Store in an airtight container so they stay fresh.
