Equipment

  • Cutting Board
  • Kinfe
  • Large Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 pound grassfed ground beef
  • 1 orange bell pepper
  • 1 cup spinach leaves

Instructions

  • To make the fries, follow my recipe for Dog Friendly Sweet Potato Fries. Make sure the fires are made ahead of time before starting the burgers.
  • To make the burgers: Form the ground beef into 8 patties. You can make them larger if you have a larger dog, but I find it difficult to make them much smaller than 8. Even if you have a smaller dog, you can cut in half if need be.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium/high heat. Once it’s warm, add in the burgers. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes per side, then flip and continue cooking until done.
  • Dice the desired amount of orange pepper you need for your dog.
  • To assemble the burger bowl: Add the fries, burger, spinach leaves, and orange pepper. Chop everything up into small pieces so your dog can easily eat it.
  • Serve immediately.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

Serving Size — This makes about 10 meals for John John, about a week's worth of food. If you have a larger dog you can double or triple this recipe. If you have a smaller dog, you can half it as you shouldn't keep food for more than 5 days in the fridge.
Tips
  • If you are making burgers for yourself, you can just set aside a small amount of ground beef for your dog!
  • Dog Friendly Sweet Potato Fries are also insanely delicious and human friendly, so enjoy them as a side for you too!
  • If you want to make a Dog Burger Bowl with ground chicken or ground turkey, you can do that as well. Set aside a small amount of ground turkey when making my Organic Turkey Burgers with Grilled Onions for you!
  • You can add in other dog safe veggies like carrots, peas, or kale.
High Altitude — Follow the recipe as noted.
