Ingredients

- Bananas: Organic bananas make these waffles incredibly fluffy.
- Peanut Butter: I use organic peanut butter which makes these waffles tasty for your dog. Be sure to use peanut butter with just peanuts, or peanuts and salt as the only two ingredients. Be sure to skip any other additives, flavors, sugars and especially xylitol as this is incredibly toxic to dogs.
- Coconut Milk: I use organic coconut milk as this is the most dog friendly milk option out there. Be sure to use coconut milk with no added sugars, flavors or gums. Our favorite is Jiva Organics, which just has one ingredient.
- Salt: I use a little bit of fine sea salt. While salt may get a bad rap for dogs, they actually need some salt! So, it's perfectly fine to have a small amount in treats, and if you are eating these too, you'll want the salt! But, you can skip it if you prefer.
- Toppings: You can top these waffles with dog friendly fruits such as apples, strawberries, or blueberries. You can also do a drizzle of peanut butter or a dollop of plain Greek yogurt (ensuring there are no added sugars or flavors).

hi Annie, thanks for this comment and your concerns. To address both for you and my other readers who may be wondering this – dogs actually NEED salt for bodily functions, just like humans. So, if you are cooking an entirely fresh food diet (like I do for John John) you need to add some salt into your dog’s food, it’s essential! So, a little bit in treats is also okay too if that’s how they are getting it. Excessive salt consumption can cause salt toxicity in dogs, so that’s when you need to worry. As far as baking soda/baking powder, small amounts are not harmful for dogs in something they get once in a while, like this. Large amounts of this can also cause concern, just like salt. Just like garlic, just like zucchini, and other foods that are okay for dogs in moderation. If you are worried, you can always omit baking powder in this recipe, but the waffles will not rise as much. I hope this helps!
John John loves these waffles! They’re a great treat that’s soft!
My pup devoured these doggy waffles in seconds. Easy to make, pup approved, and way healthier than store-bought treats. Definitely adding this recipe to our weekend routine!
Both of my dogs go crazy or these. Easy fun recipe to make!
