You will love this simple Flatbread Pizza Dough because it allows you to make homemade pizza in under an hour! No yeast needed, no rise time needed and you get fresh homemade pizza in no time!

Flatbread pizza is different than traditional pizza as it does not require any yeast. It’s a dense, flat, and crisp crust that’s topped with any kind of pizza toppings you like. But, because flatbread pizza has no yeast, it allows you to make homemade pizza on whim any day of the week!

This simple Flatbread Pizza Dough can be topped with any of your favorite pizza toppings. This makes a small flatbread pizza that serves two. So, if you have a larger family, you can make two or three doughs.

How to Make Simple Flatbread Pizza Dough

Step 1

In a medium bowl, add the flour, sea salt, olive oil, and water. Mix together with your hands until a shaggy dough forms. Allow the dough to rest for 5 to 10 minutes, this helps the gluten relax, making it easier to work with.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle with cornmeal.

Step 3

Lightly flour a work surface. Turn the dough onto the work surface and lightly flour. Roll out with a rolling pin long and thin, about 15-inches long.

Drizzle the dough with olive oil and use the back of a spoon to spread it evenly. Using a fork, poke the dough with holes everywhere.

Step 4

Bake the dough alone for 13 to 15 minutes, until it looks dry. Remove from the oven.

Step 5

Add your favorite pizza toppings such as marinara sauce, cheese, veggies, or pepperonis.

Return to the oven and bake for another 13 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is lightly browned.

FAQ's

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, if you want to make this ahead of time you can do so and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Can I make this in my pizza oven?

Yes! If you have a pizza oven and prefer to make this in your pizza oven you can definitely do that. I haven't tested the time in my own pizza oven yet, but it will be shorter as pizza ovens are much hotter so the pizza cooks much faster.

Why go organic?

You may be wondering why I push organic ingredients for everything, even savory and healthy dishes. Organic ingredients go beyond just health and wellness, and contribute so much to the taste and flavor of a recipe. So, if you think that you're making something healthy and buying fruits, veggies, or meats so maybe you don't need to spend the extra to go organic here – let me sway your thinking.

Organic ingredients are made in a more pure way, therefore using no additives, no GMOs, and minimal ingredients. This really allows the true ingredients to shine – and because of that their flavor shines through. Therefore, organic ingredients are more flavorful than their non organic counterparts. So, just because it's already a healthy recipe, or you're already buying good for you ingredients – it doesn't mean you can skip organic! Trust me here, and make the switch. Your body and your taste buds will thank you!

So, I highly recommend that you buy the best organic ingredients for this recipe! You can also shop my Amazon Storefront for all my favorite organic ingredients here. Tip – hover over each ingredient to see the name. And if you want to learn more about organic foods and the difference, read my post here on Food Labels and What They Mean.
