Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- No Added Flavors: Pretty much every BBQ sauce out there has some sort of “natural flavors” in it, usually of the smoked variety and even organic options. I’ve been avoiding natural flavors for a while now and I’ve felt so much better and this Homemade BBQ with Bone Broth doesn’t have any natural flavors!
- Use on Everything: Use this homemade BBQ sauce for my Organic Turkey Burgers with Grilled Onions to BBQ Chicken Tacos and more. This BBQ Sauce with no added flavors can be used any time a recipe calls for BBQ sauce.
- Easy: This homemade BBQ sauce recipe is incredibly easy. It just takes a few minutes to mix up ingredients and heat over the stovetop. You can make this homemade BBQ Sauce recipe in 10 minutes!
- Bone Broth: I use bone broth in this homemade BBQ sauce recipe for flavor and protein. But, you can also make this without it if you prefer.

Ingredients

- Ketchup: The base of this BBQ sauce is organic ketchup. Make sure your ketchup is also free of natural flavors and dyes. I buy the O Organics Ketchup at Vons, which has been my favorite because even the Heinz Organic option has natural flavors!
- Light Brown Sugar: I give this sauce some sweetness with a little bit of homemade light brown sugar.
- Bone Broth: I use organic beef bone broth for flavor and nutrients, you can also use chicken if you prefer. Use code MIMIBAKESCOOKIES for 20% off Kettle and Fire.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Organic apple cider vinegar is used in this homemade BBQ sauce recipe for flavor and tang.
- Honey: Organic raw honey adds a little sweetness and also helps with texture.
- Coconut Aminos: I use organic coconut aminos for that sweet and salty umami flavor. You can use soy sauce or tamari as well.
- Spices: I use a mix of organic spices. But, the smoked paprika is really crucial and is not the same as ground paprika, this is where the sweet smokey flavor comes from!

Recipe FAQ’s
If you don’t have bone broth, chicken or vegetable broth will also work and provide a very similar flavor however it won't have the protein that bone broth does. You can even use water, but it won't have as much flavor.
You can use soy sauce if you are okay with soy.
Store in a glass jar (I use a mason jar) in the fridge for up to 1 month.
