Today I am going to share the best nontoxic loaf pans for baking (or at least what I believe are the best!). And I have made a lot of loaves – cakes, breads, and babkas. I have used everything from aluminum to ceramic to glass and I'm going to share my top picks and why.
With the holidays coming up, you want to have the best nontoxic loaf pan on hand so you can bake things like my Frosted Gingerbread Banana Bread, Traditional Butter Pound Cake Loaf, Vegan Pumpkin Spice Banana Bread, and Chocolate Pound Cake With Chocolate Frosting.

Our Place Loaf Pan (5-Piece Bakeware Set)
I love the Our Place Loaf Pan that comes in their 5-Piece Bakeware Set. This is by far the best deal as you get 5 pieces (different sizes) with the 1-pound loaf pan included. The only downfall is you cannot buy the loaf pan by itself, you need to buy the set.
The Our Place pan is made up of aluminum with a nontoxic ceramic coating. This is the best of both worlds, as you get the even heat distribution of aluminum, with the beautiful nontoxic ceramic coating so you can enjoy this in pretty colors. You also do not need parchment paper with this loaf pan, it releases so well! Everything from Coconut Chocolate Chip Banana Bread to Cinnamon Sweet Potato Bread Without Eggs bakes up beautifully in this pan.
This loaf pan is also the only one that has small handles on each side, which is a game changer! You don't have to worry about indenting your loaf with your oven mitt (I am guilty of doing this so many times) or holding the pan from the bottom and possibly dropping it. I can't tell you how nice and convenient these handles are and this is the only nontoxic loaf pan that has them!
The 5-piece bakeware set also includes a larger loaf pan, a casserole size pan, a griddle pan, and an oven mat. So, while you do need to buy the set, it's really the best deal for your money with my favorite loaf pan.
- Size: 1.7-pound capacity (11.2x5x3.5)
- Colors: Our Place has beautiful soft modern colors to match any kitchen. Of course, I chose the Steam, but they also offer Spice, Blue Salt, Char, and Sage.
- Price: $199 for a 5 piece set on Our Place
- Nontoxic: Toxin-free ceramic nonstick coating made without PFAS

Caraway Ceramic Loaf Pan
My top choice is the Caraway 1-pound Loaf Pan that's made of nontoxic ceramic if you just want to buy a single loaf pan. This nontoxic loaf pan is free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium and other toxic materials.
And, if you are familiar with Caraway ceramic pans, this loaf pan is just like their iconic nonstick pans. These ceramic loaf pans are just as gorgeous! I have both the cream and the white in this and I haven't had much damage to the light colors at all, which is amazing.
Not only that, but this nontoxic loaf pan releases loaf cakes like a dream! You do not need parchment paper ever when you use this pan, making it easy to pour the batter right in. I cannot stress this enough, especially as someone who lives by parchment paper! This is my top pick for baking everything from Sourdough Discard Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread to Eggless Mini Chocolate Chip Banana Bread for easy release cakes every time.
This loaf pan also gives you a really nice golden crust every time. I love using it for my Traditional Butter Pound Cake Loaf as the brown crust is the best part. So, when you are baking recipes where you want a golden crust, this pan really shines.
- Size: 1-pound capacity (9×5-inches)
- Colors: Caraway comes in a ton of colors, everything form cream (that I have here) to black, white, green, blue, perracotta, sage, marigold, and gray.
- Price: $40 on Caraway plus you can get 10% off with code MIMIBAKES10
- Nontoxic: Free of PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium and other toxic materials that can leach into your food.

Sur La Table Loaf Pan
My next choice is the Sur La Table Loaf Pan that's made of carbon steel (a metal pan). This nontoxic loaf pan is free of PFOA, PFAS, and PTFE. And, this is basically the exact same style as the Caraway, but it's one quarter of the price!
You don't need parchment paper, loaf cakes come out super easily, so there's easy cleanup! It also looks beautiful, and it's only $11! The only reason it's not my top choice is because Caraway had more nontoxic claims. But, this loaf pan is definitely worth it and I use mine all the time for bakes like Blueberry Buttermilk Banana Bread and Almond Butter Banana Bread.
- Size: 1-pound capacity (9×5-inches)
- Colors: It comes in white, but you can also get it in green or black if you buy their set.
- Price: $11.10 on Amazon
- Nontoxic: Free of PFOA, PFAS, and PTFE.

USA Pan Aluminum Loaf Pan
Aluminum loaf pans are also a great choice for baking loaf cakes. If you want clean, straight lines on your loaf cake then this USA Pan Aluminum 1-pound Loaf Pan is my top choice. This is the most standard loaf pan, being the most classic with straight sides.
There is a reason all commercial baking pans are aluminum. When you use an aluminum loaf pan it creates the most even bakes as far as browning and color goes. They prevent cakes from burning on the bottom or sides because they promote even heat distribution. They also allow for the most even browning of cakes and breads.
Another reason I love the USA Pan Aluminum 1-pound Loaf Pan is they have the little ridges in their aluminum pans. This also goes one step further and it creates even more equal heat distribution and helps with a consistent rise! This especially helps with allergy friendly baking such as vegan, eggless, or gluten free when you don't have traditional eggs and flour to rely on for rising.
When you want a loaf pan for durability, even bakes, and budget friendly, this is a great choice. They also have multiple sizes if you need a larger loaf pan. This pan is also dishwasher-safe, but hand washing is recommended.
- Sizes: You can get a 1-pound loaf pan, 1.25-pound loaf pan, and even a 1.5-pound loaf pan! They also make mini loaf pans.
- Price: $20 to $23 depending on size on Amazon
- Nontoxic: Coated with Americoat – a silicone that is PTFE, PFOA and BPA free.

360 Cookware Stainless Steel Loaf Pan
I love 360 Cookware because they are a stainless steel pan company that's all made in the USA. This makes them incredibly eco friendly and nontoxic. The downfall of stainless steel is it can stick a bit more than the Caraway or the USA Pan. Be sure to butter or grease your stainless steel loaf pan very well before baking things like banana breads or loaf cakes.
This pan is actually my absolute favorite for more savory dishes like smaller lasagna dishes, baked mac n cheese, or a mini version of Mushroom Zucchini Baked Pasta! This is on the more expensive side of loaf pans for sure, but with stainless steel, you will never have to replace it. So, it's a good investment.
- Size: 10×5-inches
- Price: $130 on 360 Cookware, use code MIMIBAKES for 25% off your order
- Nontoxic: Surgical-grade stainless steel, which is 100% nontoxic and free of harmful chemicals or coatings.

Glass Loaf Pans
Glass loaf pans are much slower to heat up than aluminum. This can cause problems for your baked goods as it can cause uneven baking. This could mean that it may look done on the outside, and still be raw on the inside.
So, glass loaf pans are going to be best suited for dishes that don’t rely solely on cooking in the oven, but more so warming. Skip using glass loaf pans for banana bread, pound cakes, or loaf cakes. Instead, use them for baked mac ‘n cheese or a baked pasta dish for the best results.
Or, you can use a glass loaf pan with a lid store an already baked loaf cake, like I do! This works really well.
- Size: 10×3-inches
- Price: $26 for 2 pans on Amazon
- Nontoxic: Glass is a great nontoxic option and these lids are BPA free so it can double as storage.

The Takeaway
All of these loaf pans are nontoxic, whether you’re baking batches of banana bread or a classic meatloaf, the right loaf pan makes all the difference in texture, crust, and bake time. A sturdy, well-designed pan helps dough and batter rise evenly, prevents hot spots, and gives you that beautiful edge and crumb every home baker wants!
From simple everyday loaf pans to larger, high-quality options that can handle a bunch of different uses, the best loaf pans deliver consistent results batch after batch. Choosing the right shape and material ensures your banana bread, meatloaf, or any yeast or quick bread comes out exactly the way the recipe calls for, with even cooking and reliable performance every time.

I’m looking for a smaller non-toxic loaf plan, smaller than the traditional 9×5. Have anything?
hi Pete! Great question, you’re wanting a mini loaf pan! USA Pan is the only one of these listed that offers a mini, I just added it to the post, but you can find them here. Another great nontoxic option is always stainless steel, I linked one here for you to check out! Hope this helps!
Ah, I just saw your reply and just ordered the stainless steel! Thank you!!
None of the ones in the article. Lodge Cast Iron loaf pan. It produces the best bread, has zero non-stick chemicals (Just vegetable oil, just like a cast iron skillet), produces the best crust, etc.
They are made in the USA in TN by Lodge. The ONLY potential downside is that they are heavy, as is any cast iron cooking/baking vessel.
I have made THOUSANDS of loaves in mine and it is, bar-none, the best bread pan anywhere.
Hi, thanks for your comment, I have been meaning to test out the Lodge loaf pan. The only thing I don’t like is it’s seasoned with vegetable oil, which is a seed oil. I avoid these at all costs, so that’s really been holding me back from purchasing it. I really wish that it was seasoned with something else. But, Lodge is a great USA brand that makes cast iron.
