Ingredients
- Coconut Oil: I use organic coconut oil for the base of this biscotti.
- Peanut Butter: Make sure to use organic peanut butter that only has peanuts and salt as the ingredients. Make sure to stay away from any added sugars, flavors, oils, and especially xylitol as this is very toxic to dogs.
- Honey: I use organic raw honey, which is antimicrobial and antibacterial properties making this a great sweetener for your dog.
- Eggs: I use organic large eggs, which have omega-3s and protein for your pup.
- All Purpose Flour: I use Cairnspring Mills Organic All Purpose Flour.
- Baking Soda: I use baking soda for leavening.
- Salt: I use a little fine sea salt, which is okay for dogs. They actually need to have some salt. You can omit this if you prefer.

How to Make Biscotti for Dogs
Making Peanut Butter Biscotti for Dogs is just like making biscotti for yourself, it’s the same exact process! So, if you have made biscotti before, then you can easily make this Peanut Butter Biscotti for Dogs. I just make the biscotti smaller than I normally would for humans, so there’s two logs instead of one.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add the coconut oil and honey. Mix on low until there are no chunks of coconut oil.
Step 3
Add the peanut butter, eggs, flour, oat flour, baking soda, and sea salt in that order. Mix on low until combined into a stiff dough.
Step 4
Divide the dough into two pieces. Form each one into a 7 x 3-inch log and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 5
Bake for 25 minutes, until the biscotti looks set, but not completely done. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Step 6
Cut each log into about 10 slices and separate them on the baking sheet. Return to the oven and bake again for 15 to 20 more minutes until the biscotti is lightly browned and crispy.
Step 7
Allow to cool completely on the baking sheets before giving to your pup! Store in a cool dry place for up to 2 weeks.

Baker's Tips
- Make sure to mix the coconut oil and honey completely so there are no chunks of coconut oil. This is important as it’s just like the butter in human biscotti. If you don’t mix in the coconut oil (or butter) you’ll have pockets of fat which can cause holes in the biscotti and not make it uniform once baked. This results in a less than ideal texture.
- Make sure to use peanut butter that is safe for dogs! I use the Costco Organic Peanut Butter which just has two ingredients: organic peanuts and sea salt. Contrary to what you may think, dogs do need salt, but just not a lot. So, if you’re using a salted peanut butter, that’s totally fine! And if you have unsalted, that’s okay too. But stay away from peanut butters with added ingredients, and especially xylitol. I’m assuming if you are a regular reader of my site, you are not using peanut butter with this ingredient! But xylitol is incredibly harmful and dangerous to dogs.
- If you have a smaller dog, be sure to break up the biscotti and give it to your dog in small pieces. I break off tiny bits and give it to John John. Larger dogs may be able to handle a whole biscotti or even just half. You can also crumble this and use it as a food topper for picky eaters!
- Store biscotti just like you would normal biscotti. It can be store in a cool dry place like a cookie jar!
