Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Organic & Homemade: This homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix with no sugar is organic and homemade. Many Ranch dressings or Ranch seasoning mixes will have added ingredients like soy, canola oil, or other things that I don’t think are “needed”. So, when you make your own, you leave out all the junk!
- No Sugar: Ranch is also known to have sugar. But I don’t really think it needs it. So, I leave the sugar out here as I believe the nutritional yeast does a great job of adding flavor and umami to this recipe. This homemade dry ranch seasoning mix has no maltodextrin, corn syrup solids, or sweeteners!
- Pantry Stocked: When you make this homemade organic Ranch Seasoning Mix you can stock your pantry with it. This allows you to make Ranch dressing or dip at a moment’s notice! Because this is just made up of spices, it will last in your pantry for up to 3 months.

Ingredients

- Garlic Powder: Use organic garlic powder, this brings lots of flavor to this mix.
- Buttermilk Powder: I use organic buttermilk powder, which is crucial for the Ranch flavor. If you are vegan or dairy free, you can use a coconut milk powder in its place. It won't have the same exact flavor, but it will still be delicious.
- Nutritional Yeast: This is my secret ingredient in this Ranch Seasoning! This brings a salty, slightly cheesy flavor with added protein!

Tips for Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix With No Sugar
- Mix well to ensure that everything is combined.
- If you are vegan or dairy free, you can swap the buttermilk powder for a coconut milk powder. This will be similar, but not exactly the same. I like adding a pinch more nutritional yeast when making this vegan for a bit more flavor.
- 2 tablespoon of homemade ranch seasoning mix will equal about 1 packet of store bought.
- Store homemade ranch seasoning mix in a spice jar (or airtight container) in your pantry for up to 6 months.
- Make “healthy Ranch dressing” by adding this mix to EVOO for a ranch dressing that is healthy and not creamy!
How to Make Homemade Ranch Seasoning Mix With No Sugar

- In a small dish, add the buttermilk powder, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, dill weed, nutritional yeast, pepper, and fine sea salt.

- Mix together. Then transfer to a spice jar or airtight container.

How to Use Homemade Organic Ranch Seasoning Mix – Easy Dry Ranch Packet Substitute
Make Ranch Salad Dressing
To make Ranch salad dressing: Add ½ cup sour cream, ½ cup whole milk (or buttermilk), and 1 tablespoon homemade organic Ranch Seasoning Mix to a bowl and mix together. Store in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight before using as I think the flavor is much better when it has time to marinate.
To make healthy Ranch salad dressing: Drizzle extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over your salad. Sprinkle with homemade organic Ranch Seasoning Mix and mix together. Adjust ingredients to taste. You can do this with individual salads or even with a large one. Use this on Simple Green Salad With Homemade Dressing for a ranch take instead!
Make Ranch Dip
To make Ranch dip: Add 1 cup organic sour cream and 1 tablespoon of homemade organic Ranch Seasoning Mix to a bowl and mix together. Store in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving, as I think the flavor is much better when it has time to marinate a bit. Use as a dip for your favorite chips, Homemade Sourdough Discard Whole Wheat Crackers, and fresh veggies like carrots, broccoli or bell peppers.
Use in Other Recipes
You can use this homemade organic Ranch Seasoning Mix on French fries, try it in place of the herbs in Lemon Herb French Fries. If there’s a seasoning on a recipe that you would prefer it be Ranch, then use this! You can also use this in my recipe for Garlic Ranch Pretzels With White Cheddar or Healthy Ranch Pasta Salad With Olive Oil. You could also replace the spices in Baked Butter Lemon Pasta Without Cheese with this.
Use as a Dry Mix
You can use this as a dry Ranch seasoning mix for recipes like fried chicken. You can also mix this onto popcorn! Try it on Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Popcorn and add at the end with the salt for a Ranch inspired twist.

Recipe FAQ's
This is best stored in a spice jar! Typical spices and herbs will last for about 6 months, so depending on the life span of the spices you used, this should last for a few months in your pantry.
1 packet of Ranch seasoning is about 3 tablespoons.
