Food Dye
Easter is full of pastel and fun bright colors that are reminiscent of flowers and dyed eggs. You can easily swap out artificial colors for plant based food dyes for all your favorite desserts. Here’s some of my favorites for classic Easter colors!
- Orange: If you’re looking for organic orange dye, Suncore Foods makes the an organic option which is made from carrot powder! This makes a light orange, and I use it in my Sourdough Carrot Snack Cake. If you want a more vibrant orange, then India Tree Nature’s Colors Orange works so well! I use this in my Flower Cake.
- Green: I always use organic matcha powder for green. This makes a great grass green or carrot tops like in my Sourdough Carrot Snack Cake.
- Yellow: I love India Tree Nature's Colors Yellow or ColorKitchen. I don't think Suncore yellow works very well.
- Blue: For a light blue that’s perfect for speckled eggs, use organic blue spirulina!
- Pink: You can use a variety of different things for pink. I love using organic strawberry powder for pastel pink with a sweet flavor! You can also use organic raspberry powder. If you don’t want a flavor, then organic beet powder works great!
- Purple: I love using organic wild blueberry powder for a light purple, which too can see in my Blueberry Blondies. You can also use Suncore Foods Organic Purple.

Sprinkles
You can’t have Easter without sprinkles! There are a few brands out there that make plant based sprinkles. India Tree Nature’s Colors line is my favorite as they have the most options. Watkins and ColorKitchen also have an option too. These are some of my favorite Easter decorating ingredients without artificial colors as you can dress up literally anything with sprinkles!
- Rainbow Sprinkles: India Tree Nature’s Colors Carnival Mix is my favorite for pastel rainbow sprinkles. ColorKitchen and Watkins also makes a little brighter options too, all are amazing options!
- Nonpareils: India Tree makes a pastel colorful mix and ColorKitchen makes a pink, purple, green, and yellow mix.
- Pink: I love India Tree Nature’s Colors Pink.
- Yellow: I love India Tree Nature’s Colors Bright Yellow for a chick color. They also have a traditional pastel yellow too.
- Purple: Try India Tree Nature’s Colors Purple.
- Blue: Try India Tree Nature’s Colors Blue.
- Orange: India Tree Nature’s Colors Bright Orange makes the perfect orange carrot color!
- White: My favorite is India Tree Nature’s Colors White.
