Ingredients

- Butter: I use Organic Valley Salted Butter, you can use your favorite. I prefer salted butter, but you can also use unsalted if you prefer. The type of butter can impact flavor, with sweet cream butter being more mild and a European style butter being more tangy. Check out Best Salted Butter for Baking for more info on how different butter can affect your frosting.
- Cream Cheese: You can use cream cheese from a tub or block, either works. I love Organic Valley for this recipe.
- Powdered Sugar: Make sure to sift powdered sugar, this is crucial for smooth and creamy frosting. I'm using Wholesome organic powdered sugar, but you can use your favorite.
- Vanilla Extract: Be sure to use a high quality vanilla extract, I really love Simply Organic.

Baker’s Tips
- Make sure your butter is soft, this is key. I prefer to leave it out on the counter to soften naturally. If you need to microwave it, only do 10 second intervals so you don’t melt portion of it.
- You can use cream cheese from a tub or brick, either works.
- Make sure to sift powdered sugar, this is super important for smooth cream cheese frosting with no clumps.
- You can make this vegan simply by using vegan butter and vegan cream cheese, I like using Miyoko's for both!
- Be sure to store anything with cream cheese frosting in the fridge so it stays fresh.
