With summer upon us, I have a no bake dessert recipe for you today! These are one of my favorite organic cookies to make. I love animal crackers, I love them so much. It was one of the treats my mom actually allowed us to have growing up, and I coveted them whenever she let us buy them! If I could have melted chocolate, dipped them in, and added sprinkles as I kid — I totally would have!
But, as they said in Step Brothers, “Even better, we got them when we're forty!” And I got them even before I'm forty, so I'll take it! This is a super no bake dessert recipe, even one that your kids can help with and it will be so much fun for them!

Why You'll Love This Recipe
Nostalgic: Animal crackers are just pure nostalgia for me. So, I love eating these organic cookies now and again to feel like a kid again.
Chocolate Dipped: Everything is better when dipped in chocolate and these Chocolate Dipped Animal Crackers are no exception! I use dark chocolate for an elevated animal cracker, but you could also use milk chocolate or white chocolate too.
Easy AF: This no bake dessert recipe is easy AF! I love making simple desserts when it's warm outside and you don't want to turn on the oven. I also love storing these in the fridge for a cool treat.
Organic Cookies: While most store bought animal crackers have artificial colors, flavors, and more these are made with mindful ingredients. These little organic cookies are a nostalgic treat made better.

Ingredients
- Animal Crackers: Use your favorite organic animal crackers! I used the Costco Kirkland Organic Animal Crackers in this recipe today.
- Dark Chocolate: Use your favorite organic dark chocolate! I used Mama Ganache which is perfect for melting. Make sure you are using a chocolate without stabilizers so it will melt really well.
- Rainbow Sprinkles: I used ColorKitchen Nonpareil Sprinkles in these Chocolate Dipped Animal Crackers, but feel free to use different ones as well. You can even switch it up for holidays with just the sprinkles.
Tools Needed
- Scale: I always recommend a digital food scale for the best results.
- Heatproof Mixing Bowl: You'll need a heatproof mixing bowl to melt the chocolate.
- Baking Sheet: You'll need one half sheet pan for the animal crackers.
- Parchment Paper: You definitely need nontoxic parchment paper for these organic cookies. It helps so much when cookies are dipped in chocolate so they are easily removed.

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
Using a double boiler, melt the chocolate. Remove from the heat. (Or alternatively, melt the chocolate in the microwave doing 30 second intervals and stirring between each one to prevent from burning).
Step 3
Dip half of each animal cracker into the melted chocolate, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles. Place the baking sheet in the fridge for 1 hour to set.

Baker's Tips
- Use your favorite animal crackers! I love the Kirkland Organic Animal Crackers but the Trader Joe's Organic Animal Crackers are my second favorite. Use whichever ones you like best, or even if you have another organic favorite – tell me, I'd love to hear what it is!
- I am using ColorKitchen Nonpareil Sprinkles in these Chocolate Dipped Animal Crackers, but if you want to use traditional rainbow sprinkles you can use those as well. My favorite are India Tree Nature's Colors Carnival Sprinkles. Or if you are looking for a more bright and vibrant sprinkle, then use India Tree Nature's Colors Fiesta Sprinkles.
- I don't temper the chocolate in this recipe, as I store them in the fridge as I like to eat them out of the fridge. If you want to serve them at a party, especially given the warm weather, I would definitely temper the chocolate! Follow my steps in How to Temper Chocolate for Candy Making if you'd like to do that.
