Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Homemade Valentine's Day Gift: Making your own homemade organic chocolates is so fun. And homemade gifts really show your love!
- All the Chocolate: If you're a chocolate lover, or your Valentine loves chocolate, then this is the ultimate Valentine's Day treat as it's filled with homemade chocolates.
- Organic Ingredients: Everything in this box is made up of organic ingredients so you can indulge mindfully this Valentine's Day.
- No Artificial Colors: Skip the artificial colors this year and make this homemade chocolate box instead. Free of artificial colors, I use sprinkles and decorating sugars that are made using plant based dyes so you can still get some festive flair without harmful ingredients!

Things You’ll Need
You'll need to have everything ready before assembling these chocolate boxes. I like to order the supplies first, then make the homemade chocolate candies. Then, I freeze them! This is a great trick as these all freeze very well, so you can make these ahead of time and then assemble boxes the week of Valentine's Day.
- Boxes
- Pink or red ribbon
- Lake Champlain Chocolates Organic Chocolate Hearts
- Chocolate Cream Drops
- Dark Chocolate Almond Hearts
- Eggless Red Velvet Sourdough Cake Balls
- Healthy Almond Joy Bars (I made these into mini squares!)
Tips for Homemade Valentine's Day Chocolate Box
- You can use any kind of homemade chocolates you like, but I linked the recipes I used.
- I like to make the chocolates a week in advance and freeze them. This makes it really easy (and less stressful) to assemble boxes the day before Valentine's Day as you can just pull out all the chocolates from the freezer and they are ready to go!
- If you want to add in cookies or other sweets, feel free to do that too!
- Keep the theme pink, red, and purple for Valentine's Day to make it look festive. While we're not using any artificial colors, the pink and red wrapped hearts help give this more color along with the colorful ribbon!
- You can also add naturally colored sprinkles on top of these homemade chocolates. I recommend using India Tree Nature's Colors Line or Supernatural sprinkles for options made with plant based dyes. You can shop all my top picks for naturally colored sprinkles in my Amazon Shop.
How to Make a Homemade Valentine's Day Chocolate Box
Step 1
First step is to buy boxes and Valentine’s Day ribbon. And, if you want to use the chocolate hearts I used too, you can find them all here.
- Boxes
- Pink or red ribbons
- Lake Champlain Chocolates Organic Chocolate Hearts
Step 2
Make the homemade Valentine’s Day candy for the box. I used four different homemade Valentine’s Day candy recipes. I used my Chocolate Cream Drops, Dark Chocolate Almond Hearts, Eggless Red Velvet Sourdough Cake Balls, and Healthy Almond Joy Bars (I cut these into small squares!).
Other recipes that would also be great for this box include Homemade Chewy Chocolate Caramel Candy, Strawberry Cream Drops, Vegan Dark Chocolate Mini Peanut Butter Cups, Puppy Chow Candy Clusters, or Pink Peppermint Ice.
You can make all of this chocolate candy in advance and freeze it. This helps if you are making multiple boxes! Then everything can be assembled straight from the freezer.
Step 4
Once all the candy is made and you have the boxes and ribbon, it’s time to assemble the boxes! Put together the boxes, and then fill each square with one kind of candy. You can use the order I did in the photos or you can mix it up however you like!
Step 5
Place the clear cover over the boxes and tie with a ribbon. And it’s time to give your homemade Valentine’s Day Chocolate Boxes to the ones you love.

Recipe FAQ's

Yes! Of course, you can add in cookies to this box! My Chocolate Heart Thumbprint Cookies or Strawberry French Macarons Without Food Coloring would be an amazing addition to this box!
