Recipe FAQ’s
This tastes like a lightly fruity and sweet flavor with a little tart finish.
Yes, you can use those in place of pink grapefruit, either works!
Yes, because we're adding sugar here to sweeten it.
If you want it sweet, then yes. Grapefruits are very tart, which is why most people eat them sprinkled with sugar! While I enjoy them plain without sugar, I still like the sugar in the juice form. But, you can reduce the sugar as much as you like to get the desired flavor. I’d start by halving it and see what you think.
Making a simple syrup allows the sugar to dissolve completely in the water. This allows the sugar to mix into the juice and prevents larger sugar crystals from just sinking to the bottom of the juice.
If you don't add sugar, your juice will have a bitter taste. This is why the sugar is key. Grapefruits are naturally tart, so making this without sugar will result in bitterness that is not ideal for juice.
You need to make the simple syrup as noted in the recipe and uses that for sweetener.
Yes, when filling up the pitcher with the remaining water you can replace some or all of it with sparkling water.
Make your own homemade sports drink by adding about 1/4 cup of pink grapefruit juice, 1 to 2 tablespoons Homemade Blueberry Syrup, 1 cup of water and a pinch of salt.
This will stay fresh in the fridge for up to a week.
Use for mocktails or cocktails as a mixer. Try this recipe for a Paloma, Greyhound, or Grapefruit Lassi. Use to make homemade popsicles by pouring into molds. You can use to make a glaze for cookies or brownies by mixing powdered sugar and pink grapefruit juice. You can also use to make homemade salad dressing for a naturally sweetened dressing.
