Ingredients

- Bone Broth: I use Kettle & Fire Chicken Bone Broth. Use code MIMIBAKESCOOKIES for 20% off your Kettle & Fire order.
- Dutch Cocoa: I use organic Dutch cocoa powder for the best flavor. I don't recommend unsweetened cocoa powder here as we already have
- Gingerbread Spice Mix: For this recipe I use my Homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix. This is made up of organic cinnamon, ginger, and cloves so you could use a scant 1/4 teaspoon of each as well.
- Whipped Cream: This is optional, but you can top this with my Homemade Organic Whipped Cream.

Recipe FAQ’s
Hot cocoa is made using cocoa powder and hot chocolate is made using melted chocolate. However, the names are used interchangeably to describe a chocolate flavored warm beverage!
Yes! Gingerbread adds a cozy spice element to compliment chocolates rich and bitter underdone. Gingerbread spice mix a delicious addition to this bone broth hot cocoa!
Using bone broth in place of milk adds more protein, plus we're using pure maple syrup instead of traditional sugar.
No, this tastes like a delicious gingerbread hot cocoa!
I use only three spices, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in my gingerbread spice mix. Some people also like to add in nutmeg or allspice, which is fine. But, I think you only need the three!
I use my Homemade Gingerbread Spice Mix because I’m only using a 1/2 teaspoon total so it’s difficult to get the right ratio of all the spices with this small of an amount. My Gingerbread Spice Mix is made up of equal parts cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. So, you can do a scant 1/4 teaspoon of each.
You can, feel free to add in a shot of espresso or you can add in a little espresso powder (about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon).
This is already dairy free since we are using all bone broth (and no milk). If you want to make this vegan, you can use a plant based alternative. Some vegan broths are made using mushrooms, seaweed and nutritional yeast to create a similar umami flavor but without using animal bones.
