I was obsessed with the Zico Chocolate Coconut Water for a while. Then they stopped making it, then they started doing it with some weird protein in it, and then I just switched to Harmless Harvest Chocolate Coconut Smoothies when they came out. But, I still get a craving for that light and creamy chocolate coconut water that's different than the thick smoothie. So, I have made the best copycat organic coconut water but with chocolate!

If you were a fan of the original one, then you will love this recipe for organic coconut water with chocolate! You just need a couple simple ingredients that you probably already have and this takes no time at all!

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Zico Copycat: If you loved Zico Chocolate Coconut Water then you will love this easy recipe to make your own at home! I used to buy Zico Chocolate Coconut Water all the time. But, it's not organic, so I knew I could make a better organic coconut water at home!
  • Smooth and Creamy: This Chocolate Coconut Water recipe is smooth and incredibly creamy.
  • Easy AF: This Chocolate Coconut Water is so easy to make. I use coconut milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and coconut water. I cook this together on the stovetop, very similar to making hot chocolate! Then, chill, and you have your own homemade Chocolate Coconut Water in your fridge at all times.

Ingredients

  • Coconut Milk: I use organic coconut milk as it makes this a little creamy. Make sure you are using a coconut milk with stabilizers and not a single ingredient coconut milk. My favorite for this is Vita Coco Organic Coconut Milk.
  • Cane Sugar: I use organic cane sugar as it provides a natural sweetness that cuts the cocoa.
  • Dutch Cocoa Powder: I use organic Dutch cocoa powder which provides a rich chocolatey flavor.
  • Coconut Water: You can use any coconut water for this recipe. The beauty of this recipe is you can use a coconut water that is less than ideal for drinking. I've made this with many different ones and while some coconut waters are not as good, you can still use one that is less than ideal for this because of the chocolate. So, if you get one you're not a fan of, use it to make this organic coconut water instead!

Tools Needed

  • Scale: Use a digital food scale for the best results.
  • Small Pot: I use a small pot to heat everything together.
  • Whisk: You'll need a whisk to whisk the cocoa and cane sugar and ensue the chocolate is completely combined with the coconut milk.
  • Drink Thermometer: I use a drink thermometer to ensure the milk doesn't burn.

FAQ's

Can I use another kind of milk?

Yes, you can, but to get that true coconut water flavor, coconut milk is best!

How should I store this?

This is best stored in a glass bottle with a lid. This way you can shake it up before enjoying, just like you would with a traditional coconut water.
