So, I compiled all our names and even other ones to create the Best Food Names for Dogs list that you can look through if you are welcoming a new dog into your home.

Getting a dog is such an amazing thing, you are signing up for a life long friend and companion. And naming new pups is something that can be challenging but also incredibly fun!

So, I was searching for the best food dog names for a long time  (basically since last fall after Otto, our first pug, passed and I knew we’d be getting a new puppy soon). Because I compiled my own list of favorite food names, I thought I would share them with you!

We kept going back and forth and back and forth on names. I even had some polls on my Instagram page for you guys to play along! While I really wanted to name him a cute food name, ultimately, we decided that he was just a John John. Sometimes, the name just chooses the dog, right? And we all know that human names and food names are the only names for dogs, haha!

We also really loved Sushi, though my husband didn't think it fit him as well as John John, so we decided he would have a full name of John John Sushi Council. Plus, then I could say that he was so cute we named him twice! 

And, I thought we’d use Sushi as a nickname (so I thought). But, turns out, John John’s nicknames are Bean, Cake, Pie, and Munchkin (favorite desserts of mine!). I don’t know how it happened, but it did and I don’t think even knows his middle name is Sushi, ha!

I’ve separated out the list into food categories, incase you feel that your dog must be named a dessert, a brunch item, or a drink!
