Ingredients

- Shortening or Butter: I used organic vegetable shortening here so this recipe is vegan, but you can also use vegan butter or real butter too for the ghost frosting.
- Chocolate Chips: I use organic chocolate chips for the eyes and mouth of the ghost.
- Oreos: I use Newman’s Own Organic O’s which are basically organic Oreos! You can use vanilla filled or chocolate filled, both are great! You can also use any other kind of cookie you like. For another dark cookie option try Chocolate Sea Salt Mini Cookies.
- Gummy Worms: Our favorite organic gummy worms are made by Surf Sweet!
- Giggles: These are organic skittles! I picked out the green and purple ones for Halloween colors!
- Gummy Bears: I picked out all the orange gummy bears from Surf Sweet Organic Gummy Bears bag!
- Chocolate Pumpkins: I use Lake Champlain Organic Chocolate Pumpkins for decorations.

Easy Substitutions
- Feel free to use regular butter or vegan butter in place of shortening. All three will work and make a delicious frosting.
- If you’re feeling pressed for time or just extra lazy, pick up a jar of Miss Jones Organic Vanilla Frosting instead of making it!
- You could also make the frosting orange and pipe a pumpkin for the center, using chocolate for the jack-o-lantern. Any Halloween inspired frosting design works!
- Feel free to use other cookies or candies, this part is totally flexible! I just kept within the Halloween theme which is why I chose the colors and things that I did.
How to Make a Halloween Dessert Board

- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add the shortening, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

- Mix on low until combined, then add in the stew and mix on high until you have a smooth and creamy frosting. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing and add more water if needed for a smooth consistency.

- Have your serving board ready. Using a spatula, take all the frosting out of the mixing bowl and place it in the top middle of the board (wherever you want your ghost head to be). Then in a swoop motion, use the spatula to swoop the frosting down and to one side to create a ghost shape. Add chocolate chips upside down so the flat part is on top for the eyes and mouth. (Watch the video below!)

- I put the giggles in small bowls, this ensures they don’t fall off the board. The gummies are optional if you want to put in bowls or not as they will stay on the board in a pile.

- Decorate the dessert board with the remaining items, cookies, animal crackers, candy, and pumpkins. It’s ready to serve!
