Equipment

  • 3-Quart Pot
  • Food Processor

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 persimmons
  • ½ cup apple cider
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Peel the apples and chop into small pieces.
  • Cut the persimmon into small pieces.
  • Add the apples, persimmon, apple cider, cinnamon, and lemon juice to a small pot and put over medium heat. Once the cider begins to bubble, reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Simmer for about 10 minutes or until the mixture has thickened and the cider has reduced completely.
  • Transfer the mixture to a food processor and process until you have your desired consistency.
  • Transfer to a glass jar and let it cool to room temperature.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Tips
  • Be sure to peel the apples. The skin on the apples won’t break down as easily as other fruit skins.
  • If you don’t have a food processor you’ll need to simmer the fruit for much longer to break down the apples and persimmons more.
  • This makes a great gift for the holidays! Just tie a bow around it and you're good to go.
  • High Altitude — Follow the recipe as noted.
