Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 113 grams salted butter (softened)
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, add the butter, chives, thyme, and garlic. Mix together until completely incorporated.
  • Use butter or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.

Notes

Tips
  • Use a butter that you like. Butters can differ in flavor, depending on butter fat and if they are cultured, European, or sweet cream. Choose sweet cream for a mild flavor that lets the herbs shine through. Choose a cultured butter for big bold tang that compliments the herbs. So, just know this can affect the flavor of your finished gourmet compound butter.
  • If you're using unsalted butter, add 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  • You can switch up the herbs if you like, go ahead and get creative and use your favorites!
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
  • You can freeze this for up to 3 months too.
