Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Half Sheet Pan
  • Parchment Paper Sheets

Ingredients

Fries

  • 1 pound Russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt

Soy Lime Ketchup

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
  • 1 lime

Instructions

  • Cut potatoes into ¼-inch wide long strips.
  • Place cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water. Soak for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Rinse and pat the potatoes dry. Add them to the bowl with the coconut oil and spices and coat them completely.
  • Mix together to coat the potatoes completely.
  • Lay potato strips out evenly on the parchment paper, do not overlap.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Flip each fry over and cook for another 10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for at least 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
  • To make the ketchup: Add the ketchup, coconut aminos and juice of 1 lime into a dish and mix together.
  • Serve fries warm with ketchup!

Notes

Tips
  • Soaking the potatoes in water will remove starches, this will will get you really crispy fries in the oven!
  • You can use your air fryer or regular oven, either works.
  • If you have a roasting rack (or cooling rack), you can also cook fries on that in the oven for more air flow as this will help get you crispier fries.
  • High Altitude — Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes. Flip each fry over and cook for another 10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.
