Tomato Basil Grilled CheeseDifficulty: Easy
This gourmet Tomato Basil Grilled Cheese will take your grilled cheese to the next level! This healthy take on grilled cheese uses fresh tomatoes and basil.
2 slices organic sourdough bread
4 slices organic mozzarella cheese
4 slices organic tomato
organic fresh basil leaves
organic black pepper
fine sea salt
2 tablespoons organic salted butter
- Assemble the sandwich by adding 2 slices of mozzarella on each side. Place the tomato slices on one side and the basil leaves on the other. Salt and pepper each side.
- In a small saucepan, add 1 tablespoon butter and turn onto low heat. Allow butter to melt, then place sandwich in pan. Cover with a lid. Cook for 2 to 4 minutes or until lightly golden brown on the bottom.
- Flip, adding the other tablespoon of butter into the pan, and then set down sandwich. Cover with lid and cook for another 2 to 4 minutes or until lightly golden brown on the bottom and the mozzarella is completely melted. Remove from heat.
