My husband and I have a constant Instagram DM going where all we do is send each other reels or posts. We never type anything, but the reel or post is always one of three categories — Pugs, crazy food, or smart home items or ideas.
Recently he sent me a reel of someone melting American cheese and ground beef on tortillas and we immediately both looked at each other and said Cheeseburger Tacos. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we’re usually sitting less than a foot away from each other on the couch when we send these DMs, haha!
So, here we are with Cheeseburger Tacos — just in time for Super Bowl! This is the best recipe for hamburger tacos. You can add cheese or you can leave them as classic hamburger tacos, but we are obsessed with Organic Valley’s American Cheese, so of course we added cheese!
Why You'll Love This Recipe
Twist on a Classic: This is a combination of two amazing comfort foods — organic tacos and burgers! This is the best recipe for hamburger tacos as it combines the best of both of these amazing foods.
Organic Tacos: While this is an indulging meal, I'm still using organic ingredients so we're getting nutrients from the grassfed beef and all the veggies!
Flexible: You can add any kind of toppings you like, just like with burgers. So, mix it up and make them your own.

This recipe takes your classic American cheeseburger and turns it into a soft taco. I start by pressing the ground beef into the tortilla and fry it in a pan, then melt American Cheese on top and add the traditional burger toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, pickles and condiments!

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
To make the grilled onions: Slice the onion into thin slices. Add the butter into a large skillet over medium/high heat and let it melt to coat the pan. Add in the onions and sauté until onions are translucent and golden brown, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 2
To make the burger meat: In a large skillet, add the ground beef and salt and paper. Cook over medium/high heat until the ground beef is done, about 10 minutes.
Step 3
To make the tacos: In a large skillet, add a tortilla and ground beef. Put over medium heat, add a slice of American cheese on top and allow to melt while the tortilla warms and browns slightly. Top the taco with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and condiments of your choice.

- I use flour tortillas, but if you're gluten free, you can use corn too.

I love how these incorporate the pickles!
The pickles “make” a cheeseburger, even its a cheeseburger taco!
The best of two comfort foods in one!
