You will love this Homemade Healthy Tzatziki Sauce because it’s light and zesty. It’s the perfect dipping sauce for chicken, lamb, beef, and veggies! I love serving this with grilled chicken, beef kabobs, or just simple veggies like cucumbers, peppers, and carrots.

This Homemade Healthy Tzatziki Sauce uses Greek yogurt and a few simple ingredients. I add cucumber, extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, lemon juice, dill, and you can also add mint if you want. Delaney prefers this without mint, and I like it. Traditionally mint is used in a lot of Greek dishes, but it’s just as delicious with or without!

Why You'll Love This Recipe

Healthy: Tzatziki sauce is a healthy condiment that you can use on so many things! This Homemade Healthy Tzatziki is a Greek yogurt base which is loaded with protein and probiotics.

Homemade: Everything is better when it's homemade, especially sauces and things that can have unnecessary ingredients in them to help extend shelf life and other things. So, I always opt for homemade whenever possible!

Use on Everything: Use it on burgers in place of more sugary condiments like ketchup or BBQ sauce. You can use this on chicken and beef. And you can even use it as a dip for veggies and chips.

FAQ's

Can I make this ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can make this Homemade Healthy Tzatziki Sauce ahead of time if you want. It’s a great dip or sauce for entertaining! If you’re making it ahead of time, just be sure to store it in an airtight container in the fridge.

How do you remove moisture from cucumbers?

For this recipe, I grate the cucumber using the large side of a box grater. Then I add the cucumber into a fine mesh strainer and squish it down with my hands (over the sink of course!). If you don’t have a fine mesh strainer, you can add the cucumber to a paper towel and ring it out over the sink too!

Can I use fresh dill?

Yes, if you prefer to use fresh dill you can! But you’ll need more fresh dill than the recipe calls for. Dried spices usually have a bit more flavor than fresh, so just be sure to add more and taste test it!

Can I leave out the mint?

Yes, if you don’t want to add the mint feel free to leave it out. Taste it before, and then decide if you want to add it in.

What can I serve tzatziki sauce with?

Tzatziki sauce is a light and zesty sauce that makes a great dip for veggies. It also goes really well with chicken, lamb, or beef. If you are making kabobs or grilled meat, tzatziki sauce is a great healthy alternative to dip instead of BBQ.
