Ingredients & Health Benefits
- EVOO: Organic extra virgin olive oil is a great healthy fat and it adds Mediterranean flavor to these organic burgers. Lamb is rich in iron, zinc, and nutrients. It's also a great source of protein.
- Ground Lamb: I use TruBeef Organic Ground Lamb, which is the only place I've been able to find organic lamb!
- Greek Seasoning: I use organic Greek seasoning, making these homemade burgers super easy as you just need one spice.
- Feta: I love Organic Valley Feta. This is rich in calcium and has added protein. I always buy block feta because it has no stabilizers, which crumbled feta can have.
- Red Onion: This brings flavor to these organic burgers and onions have loads of antioxidants.
- Tomato: Organic tomatoes have potassium, lycopene, and more.
- Arugula: I use organic arugula, but any leafy greens or lettuce works. Arugula is rich in vitamin A, C, K, antioxidants, and more.
- Kalamata Olives: I buy organic pitted kalamata olives for ease. Olives are a great healthy fat! And i cannot have any Greek dish without these.
- Tzatziki Sauce: I use my homemade Organic Tzatziki Sauce, but you can also use store bought if you prefer.
- Buns: I used Silver Hills Bakery Organic Sprouted Wheat Buns. Sprouted wheat can be easier to digest and I love the heartiness of these buns with these Greek Lamb Burgers.
Tools Needed
- Mixing Bowl: You'll need a mixing bowl to mix up the meat and spices.
- Skillet: You can use a large skillet or a cast iron skillet, either work.

FAQ's
Of course, you can use ground beef or turkey for this recipe, but you won't get the same flavor profile. Lamb is very popular in Greek cuisine, and that really makes these burgers more authentic. But, you can definitely make with ground beef or turkey the same way.
If you're not an arugula fan, in addition or in place of arugula, you can use Romaine lettuce, iceberg lettuce, green cabbage, or kale instead! All of these would be delicious with this burger.
Absolutely not! Sorry, the Greek in me came out. Black olives and kalamata olives are much different in texture and in flavor. Kalamata olives are a staple in Greek cuisine. They have a rich, buttery, and almost sweet taste. These are my favorite olives – ever! While black olives are my least favorite olives, haha. They have a mild taste and almost a bland flavor, in my opinion. Kalamata olives are a must on this burger to get the true Greek flavor profile!
If you don't want to make my Healthy Homemade Tzatziki, you can use a little spread of mayo with a sprinkle of garlic powder and dill weed. That will be very similar and give the flavor profile of tzatziki. If you have hummus, that is also a delicious alternative for this burger too!
I like to serve my Lemon Herb French Fries with these burgers. You can also enjoy them with organic pita chips!
