Why You'll Love This Recipe
Healthy Chips: This recipe for BBQ Kale Chips makes healthy organic kale chips! If you are new to homemade kale chips, they are so easy to make and they are so much healthier than traditional potato chips!
Nostalgic: BBQ chips will always be nostalgic for me because they were a special treat we got in the summertime at our pool club. So, these homemade kale chips take me back because they taste very similar but they are so much better to eat!
No Seed Oils: Part of the reason traditional potato chips are unhealthy is they are usually made with seed oils. Unless you are buying avocado oil or olive oil chips, then they are most likely made with canola oil, sunflower oil, or other harmful seed oils. So, I use extra virgin olive oil for healthy chips without any seed oils.
Organic Kale Chips: I use organic ingredients in these homemade kale chips so you can snack mindfully!

Ingredients & Health Benefits
- Kale: I use organic kale, just be sure to remove all the stems. The stems can just become tough soggy in the oven, they are not idea for eating and don't crisp up well like the leaves. Kale is a cruciferous vegetable, which is high in fiber and can promote gut health.
- EVOO: I use organic extra virgin olive oil, which is a healthy fat with omega-3.s You can also use avocado oil or melted ghee if you prefer.
- BBQ Seasoning: I use organic BBQ seasoning, which makes this really easy as you can use one spice for tons of flavor.
- Nutritional Yeast: This gives even more flavor to these organic kale chips, plus the health benefits of protein, B vitamins, and more.
- Onion Powder: Organic onion powder gives these organic kale chips a sweet flavor that pairs really with with the smokey notes from the BBQ seasoning.
- Salt: Use a fine sea salt.
Tools Needed
- Mixing Bowl: You'll need a large mixing bowl to coat the kale leaves with the oil and seasoning.
- Baking Sheet: You'll need a half sheet pan for these homemade kale chips so they can easily spread out and crips up to perfection.
- Parchment Paper: Definitely use nontoxic parchment paper to ensure these organic kale chips don't stick to the pan.
