Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
In a large bowl, add the bread crumbs, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and a good amount of salt and pepper. Mix together to combine completely.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, add the egg and avocado oil and whisk together.
Step 3
Prepare your air fryer basket and spray the basket with canola oil cooking spray.
Step 4
Dip the chicken into the egg mixture, then coat it in the bread crumb mixture, then place in the air fryer basket. Repeat until the basket is full. (I had to do 2 baskets). Spray the coated chicken with avocado oil cooking spray so they are completely coated on the top.
Step 5
Place the basket into the air fryer and airy fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Remove basket and flip chicken strips, spray the tops with avocado oil cooking spray and air fry for another 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the airy fryer, and repeat with remaining chicken. Serve with fresh parsley.
Tips
- You can buy boneless skinless chicken strips or you can also buy breasts and then cut them into strips. Either way will work!
- Make sure to coat the chicken in the bread crumbs/flour mixture completely. If you have bare spots, then they won't be golden brown.
- Avocado oil cooking spray is completely necessary for this recipe. The chicken strips have to be completely coated, and spraying them is the easiest and best way to get them perfectly golden brown. You can also use canola oil cooking spray as well.
- Make sure to air fry until they are golden brown before flipping. This may take a couple more minutes, depending on your air fryer, so just look at the chicken strips.
FAQ's
You can use gluten free breadcrumbs.
These are great on their own as an appetizer with dipping sauces like ketchup, honey mustard, or BBQ sauce. You can also make these a meal by adding them into a big salad like my Simple Green Salad.
If you have leftovers you can reheat them in your air fryer on warm until they are crispy, about 5 minutes.
